(Only it is Ordinary Time and Christmas… it’s O’Christmas)

Key Scripture: “See, I am sending my messenger to prepare the way before me, and the Lord whom you seek will suddenly come to his temple. The messenger of the covenant in whom you delight—indeed, he is coming, says the Lord of hosts. But who can endure the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appears?
For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap” — Malachi 3:1-2

Key Scripture: “Your relative Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month for her.” — Luke 1:36

Key Scripture:  “Zechariah said to the angel, ‘How will I know that this is so? For I am an old man, and my wife is getting on in years.’ The angel replied, ‘I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to bring you this good news. But now, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time, you will become mute, unable to speak, until the day these things occur.’” — Luke 1:18-20

Key Scripture:  “Now the time came for Elizabeth to give birth, and she bore a son. Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her.

“Fear came over all their neighbors, and all these things were talked about throughout the entire hill country of Judea. All who heard them pondered them and said, ‘What then will this child become?’” — Luke 1:58, 65-66a

Life Application: Think of a way to live into the wonderful news that Jesus abides with us through the most ordinary of events. Is there a way you can remind yourself? Maybe make a small bracelet in red and green to remember the message of Christmas all year.
