HELP WANTED: NOMINATING COMMITTEE MEMBERS for 2020. Members serve only one term and include outgoing council members. The Congregation Council is looking for at least two other congregation members to serve on this committee. Please contact a council member if you are interested in serving. Council members are Morgen Hummel, Sally Kolesar, Michelle McMullen, Linda Muthler, Linda Rosensteel and Roger Williams.

Thank you: By now you have probably picked up your offering envelopes for the year 2020. This is an excellent time to consider how much you are giving. If your envelope is shared, this is a good time to have a conversation about whether your family should give more or less in the coming year. Has your financial situation changed in the last year? Perhaps you will want your contribution to reflect the change. The congregation council appreciates your generosity in support of the church in 2019 and asks for your careful consideration in 2020.

COMMEMORATIONMartin Luther, renewer of the church, died 1546; Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Though he began his adult church life as a simple Augustinian monk, Luther challenged the abuses he saw in the church, and his work eventually led to the Protestant Reformation. Luther’s accomplishments included liturgical reform, translation of the Bible, and creation of the Small and Large Catechisms.

Stewardship Snippet February 16Matthew 5:23-24So when you are offering your gift at the altar, if you remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother or sister….Stewarding and tending a heart of love may lead us to difficult choices and actions. Jesus reminds us to pay attention to love, reconciliation, and mending relationships first; everything else will follow.

As of February 2, 2020 — St. Paul has contributed 289 items to the State College Food Bank. Thank you! This total is being added to the synod total which will be announced when everything is calculated at the Synod Office.
