Stewardship Snippet— Feb. 10, 2019

Luke 5:5,6 – Simon answered Jesus, “Master, we have worked all night long but have caught nothing. Yet if you say so, I will let down the nets.” When they had done this, they caught so many fish that their nets were beginning to break.Jesus’s instructions make no sense to Simon, but following them leads him to make an enormous catch of fish. Steward/disciples often find that God’s guidance leads to greater abundance. When have you seen this in your life?

The “TEACH IT” IDEA Ten Bible verses about love. Go the source, the Bible. There are hundreds of verses about God’s love for humankind and our love for God and neighbor. Exploring them all would take many hours, but this resource can get you started. After reviewing it, invite class participants to find other Bible verses about love that speak to them. (

This week we celebrate the Fifth Sunday after in Epiphany. Holy Communion will be offered at the altar.

Sunday School for children is held each week at 9:30 AM.

This week we join the churches in the Allegheny Synod in praying for Samuel Lutheran in Somerset.

Year-end statements were mailed on Saturday afternoon, February 9.

This February at our Wellness Book Fair we will be featuring various books for sale for adults that promote various kinds of wellness.

The workshop on Funeral Planning from the Planning Ahead series is set for Sunday, February 24, 2019 at 2:00 PM here at St. Paul.  This event is for members, friends and neighbors in the community. The guest speaker will be Jay from Koch Funeral Home in State College. Please bring your family, friends and neighbors. Making a Will and Estate Planning Workshops are being planned for a later time. Watch for dates and times in the bulletins and on the website.

Worship volunteer sheets for February, March and April are on the table in the narthex.  Please prayerfully pray on how you might serve. For February 17 we need one more counter and at least one Home Visitor and February 17 is Fellowship Sunday—we need 4 persons.  For February 24 we need an Assisting Minister and one more counter.
