Sing aloud, O daughter Zion; shout, O Israel! Rejoice and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem! – Zephaniah 3:14

Over the last few days, Megan and I have been privileged to foster a happy little dog. This pup is named Peepers and she is available through Centre County PAWS. Peepers is much more energetic than our regular foster, CC. While CC can rival our cats in sleep marathons, Peepers bounds with joy and happiness.

In the above text, we see Zephaniah proclaim to his audience that they should rejoice, shout, and exult. These are invitations to celebrate with great joy. In fact, the first word that is rendered above as “sing aloud” could also be translated “shout for joy.” The whole verse pulsates with the energy of joy, how could one even turn down such an invite‽

While spirituality and faith are serious matters, they are also to be filled with joy. One can find joy in the basis of faith: we know that Death is no longer absolute. We can find joy in our spirituality: Jesus is bringing us to be one with all things. In these things, even as we face challenges in our life, we can hold onto this joy in what Jesus has done.

With the many things God has done, we all should all be a little bit more like Peepers and celebrate with great joy.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday! We will be talking more about the joy we find in God.

God continue to be with you!
Yours in Christ, Pastor Paul+
